This book is written in a chatty, easy style and is far removed from what might be described as the "standard fishing book" yet represents a most valuable addition to an already sparkling aray of angling literature.

Contains making artificial flies for every month of the season. Directions for baits. Descriptions of fresh water fish. This also contains chapters on coursing, the Forest of Blair, deer, dogs, etc.



Mackintosh, Alexander: The Driffield Angler, in Two Parts; descriptions of the different kinds of freshwater fish and methods of taking them, to which is added instructions for shooting and a short treatise on coursing. 1806, Printed for the Author, Gainsborough. eng. frontis. 346pp, an uncut copy. Original paper covered boards and paper spine, spine little chipped and one small hole on page 5. Contemporary name, "John Harvey 1808" inside front cover. Light red private library stamp on front end paper. Contained in a foldover half dark tan box. A good example which is unusual to find in the original boards as so many copies were rebound in the 19th century.



Maclean, Norman: A River Runs Through It, and Other Stories. 1976, 1st edition but not first impression, University Of Chicago Press. Illustrated by R.Williams, 217pp, very good example in dust wrapper, with only minor wear to dust wrapper. In our family there was no clear line between religion and fly fishing. So begins the title piece of this collection of autobiographical fiction by Norman Maclean.



Magee, Leslie: Fly Fishing, The North Country Tradition. 1994, DE LUXE EDITION LIMITED TO 60 COPIES.(50 of which were for sale to subscibers) 10 copies were hors commerce are lettered A-J. This copy is letter B. The binders copy, whose wife set the majority of the flies within their mounts. Signed by the author. List of Subscribers. Coloured illustrations in text volume tipped in, 218pp., full green morocco binding, gilt top, accompanied by a companion volume of specimen flies of thirty North Country Patterns. The fly patterns contained in 5 sunken mounts with description and bound in a matching quarter green morocco binding. Original slip case. A book dealing with the history and origin of the North Country Fly Fishers, such as, Francis Walbran, T. E. Pritt, John Swawbrick, Theakston, Jackson, Edmonds and Lee and others. Contains bibliography. This is the result of a lifetime's research and observation. 2 Vols.
